MINOR REVISIONS Minor revisions include much more than "bug" fixes. They include enhancements to TubeCAD that customers ask for, yet they are not enough of a change to TubeCAD to warrant a new major version number. TubeCAD minor revisions currently occur several times a year. For example, TubeCAD has a Dakota Tube chart style for reports that was designed by Dakota Tube personnel. They contracted with Advanced Tubular Technologies to have the new style added to TubeCAD, which we then promptly released as part of a new revision to all customers who purchase new TubeCAD packages. The current level of revision can be seen in the revision letter that follows the version number: "TubeCAD 5.8L" This example shows revision L, or the 12th revision of version 5.8 of TubeCAD. MAJOR VERSIONS Major version releases currently occur about every year. A major release will include all the previous revisions, plus some major additions to the capabilities of TubeCAD. For example, version 5.8 of TubeCAD had major new features that version 5.7 did not have, like multiple tube (or Assembly) capabilities. REVISION HISTORY The revision history of TubeCAD starting at as late as version 5.7 should help give an indication of the rapid pace of enhancements that have occurred within the product within the last year and a half. *This contract is renewable on an annual basis. Updates are supplied as long as the contract is current. Before purchasing this contract the first time, it is necessary for your company to have upgraded to the to the latest major version. |
