The Philovox Ensemble of Boston perform Susa's very popular "Carols and Lullabies, Music of the Southwest" (for chorus, harp, guitar, and marimba, in Spanish and Catalan), his "Serenade for Christmas Night" (for organ, harp, and vibraphone, and his "Christmas Garland" (version for chorus, brass, organ, and percussion). Included also is a group of carols by George Chadwick, Fred Gramann, David Ashley, and James Sclater. Now that the premiere commercial recording of Carols and Lullabies (with the Plymouth Music Series Ensemble conducted by Phillip Brunelle) is out of print, the new recording by ARSIS makes the popular piece available once again on CD. The remaining pieces on this CD are premiere recordings of each work. |
