A Universal Punch is different than a standard punch for one reason: You can take out the punch
die pattern and install a different die. This gives you the ability to punch for comb, coil, wire, 3-hole
or any other punching pattern - with just one machine. If you have the need to change punch patterns
these universal punches will save you money and space, because you just have to invest in one machine.
The dies come out easy enough, typically you just have to unscrew 2 bolts, or turn a handle and the
die can be pulled out of the punch and quickly a new one can be inserted. The Universal Punches are
heavier duty than most other paper punches, and will punch more paper at a speedier clip. The PDI -
Rhin-o-Tuff series has numerous levels of punches, starting with the OD #4000, OD #4012, HD #6500, HD #7000, and
HD #7700. Renz has the DTP #340. All the punches have dies (one punching die come included with the
Universal Punch) to punch for wire, coil, comb or any of
the other popular punching patterns.
