Create your own Fund Raising event or Community Educational Screening!

This is your opportunity to use the emotional power of the feature-length documentary film, West 47th Street, which follows the lives of four people with serious mental illness over three years, to easily and and successfully create your own fundraiser or community educational screening.

The producers of West 47th Street, Lichtenstein Creative Media, have helped facilitate over 100 community screenings of the film from Grand Rounds at Yale Medical School to community screenings/fundraising benefits for mental health groups in cities including Honolulu, Tulsa, Atlanta, Cleveland, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Jackson, MS, San Francisco, Austin, Salt Lake City, Milwaukee, and Boston, among others (click here for list of educational screenings and fundraisers held to date) as part of the film's ongoing national, educational outreach and community engagement campaign.

Community screenings of the film have helped raise funding and engage local mental health advocates and professionals, and members of the public, in critical and productive discussions about such important issues as living with and access to care for mental illness, homelessness and the need for housing, substance abuse, the success of community-based mental health programs, stigma, and the need for increased funding to support treatment and services that work.

WEST 47th STREET: The Film
West 47th Street
is a highly-acclaimed, award-winning film co-produced by Bill Lichtenstein and June People, which takes its cameras into the lives of four homeless people living with serious mental illness. Filmed over three years, West 47th Street reveals the human face of mental illness, and the resulting stories, both warm and dramatic, are about people who approach tremendous obstacles with humor, optimism and grace.

At times hilarious and at other times tragic, West 47th Street represents a radical return to cinema verite, without interviews or narration. It has been hailed as "must see," by Newsweek, "remarkable," by the Washington Post, and called "a life-altering cinema experience," by Tulsa World. The film has played to sold-out audiences around the world, from Vancouver to Dublin to Paris to South Korea, and at more than 100 theatres and community screenings and benefits here in the U.S. The film was winner of "Best Documentary" at the Atlanta Film Festival and won the "Audience Award" at the DC Independent Film Festival, and later aired on the prestigious PBS documentary series, P.O.V. The film is produced by the Peabody Award-winning Lichtenstein Creative Media (LCM), creators of public radio's "The Infinite Mind."
