You can allow the contents of your store to be available for export to third parties, such as product search engines,
by enabling the Export of Store Contents feature. This is available on the Search Engines
page in your Store Manager.
When enabled, the export file is available at a standard URL for anyone to download. If the name
of your account is acme, the file will be at http://store.yahoo.com/acme/objinfo.xml.
They should refetch it regularly, every day or week depending on how often they want to update their
product database.
Although the file doesn't contain any info which isn't also available by simply scanning all the
pages in your store, export is not allowed unless you specifically enable the feature.
The export format contains, for each item in your store
- Name
- Caption
- URL
- Whether it is orderable
- Price
- What section it is in (the complete hierarchy is included)
- Availability
The information is formatted as XML, fully documented by an XML DTD.
The file is updated whenever you publish your store.
