This is a translation by the Padmakara Translation Group of the Kunzang Lama'i Shelung by Patrul Rinpoche, a classic commentary on and practical guide to the preliminary practices of the Longchen Nyingtik cycle of teachings. This is a revised edition.
Patrul Rinpoche (1808-1887) was one of the greatest Tibetan teachers of the nineteenth century. He shunned high monastic office and lived the life of a homeless wanderer, writing his book in a rustic hermitage under an overhanging rock. He teaches through a wealth of stories, quotations, and references to everyday life, giving the book the atmosphere of an oral teaching.
